Department of Energy Announces Nearly $300 Million Rebate Program

In June, the Department of Energy said it is making $300 million in stimulus-act money available to state energy offices to offer rebates on energy-efficient household appliances. More details on the program are hitting the news each day. The fund is based on a state-run rebate program for consumers who purchase a more eco-friendly, Energy Star qualified home appliance, without turning in their older, more damage causing appliances. Rebates will vary, but there will be an offer of $50 to $200 set aside per appliance.

Newer, Energy Star models are tested energy efficiency and save consumers money over time while helping the environment. Energy efficient choices can save families about a third on their energy bill with similar savings of greenhouse gas emissions, without sacrificing features, style or comfort. Haier manufactures many lines of Energy Star qualified products, from chest freezers to washing machines and dryers and refrigerators.
