Here are some quick tips to understanding air conditioners:

Q: What is the difference between a portable and window air conditioner?

A:  Portable air conditioners are great for use in smaller, enclosed areas like bedrooms or offices where local cooling is required. These units are very efficient and reliable, and they have the benefit of mobility. Most units are set on casters, allowing them to be easily rolled from room to room as needed. A portable air conditioner removes hot air from the room and must be vented out of a window so that the hot air is released. The window exhaust kit included with Haier’s Commercial Cool models makes this process quick and simple.

Window air conditioners. The biggest difference between portable and window units is that window air conditioners are installed and secured in window frames and are meant to be kept there for the entire season. They are stationary units, but can be removed from windows at any time to be stored after the season. Window air conditioners efficiently cool and dehumidify the air in the room for optimal comfort.

Q: Why ENERGY STAR®?

A: Haier has a full line of ENERGY STAR® Qualified air conditioners.

Save energy - ENERGY STAR Qualified room air conditioners use 10% less energy than standard models, which could mean consumers can save more than $60 over the lifetime of the unit.

Save the environment - By choosing ENERGY STAR qualified heating and cooling equipment and taking steps to optimize its performance, consumers can enhance the comfort of your home while saving energy.*

Q: What size air conditioner is right for my room?

It is important to choose an air conditioner with adequate BTUs for the size of the space. Too few BTUs can result in insufficient cooling, and even having too many BTUs can negatively affect the comfort of the room. The size of the space being cooled is the most important aspect to consider, but other factors such as the number of people normally occupying a room, and sources of additional heat like windows should also be taken into account. The Haier AC Product Selector will take users through the process to make sure they select the proper unit.
