A clean start can help a person move forward through a difficult time and provide an opportunity for change where none existed before. Haier believes that—at one time or another—everyone needs a clean start. The Clean Start Project encourages people to think about what they can do in the service of others. No matter your location, age, or income, you have some resource, knowledge, or ability that can be used to help someone else. 

The Clean Start Project revolves around the idea that social change starts on the individual level, and that helping even one person can lead to change in an entire community.
